I’ve seen a lot of articles and posts about AI that use the term “like it or not” as in “like it or not, AI is here, and we might as well get used to it” and that is such bullshit.

Like it or not, ableism is here… like it or not, racism is here… like it or not, fascism is here.

No, fuck that, I will resist. I will speak out. I will fight back.

You do not have to roll over and accept the shit corporations and the existing power structure try to force upon you.

We can build a better world.

Transgender History, 2nd ed: The Roots of Today's Revolution by Susan Stryker

A very good primer on the history of the US’s trans rights movement through 2017. Even knowing the history, I found it enlightening to see the timeline and events laid out.

4/5 stars

Meegan (Loose Ends #3) Rebekah Weatherspoon

This book was trying to be three things at once: a very sweet romance about two people who believed they’d “missed out” on true love; a primer into what a D/s BDSM relationship could healthily look like; and a revisiting of other characters and a sense of how we are lifted up by our community. When it did one of these things well, the other two pieces suffered.

White people discount exactly how much immigrants, people of color, queer people, and other marginalized groups contribute to popular culture. Without these groups we are missing the perspectives that help create the thriving ecosystem that pumps out intellectual works, art, cuisine, fashion, etc. It mirrors their failure to appreciate multiculturalism.

@garland @trigonella Fun Home is so good!

Stargazing by Jen Wang
Sunflowers by Keezy Young
Stuck Rubber Baby by Howard Cruse
I Never Promised You a Rose Garden by Mannie Murphy
Waves by Ingrid Chabbert and Carole Maurel
Homebody by Theo Parish
March by John Lewis
Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi

All are very excellent
@alice_digest I couldn't imagine! At least with a physical book, I could power read. It's still one of the most offensive bio essential books I've read.

It was so highly recommended too, so an extra big disappointment.
@glassblowerscat 💚💚💚💚💚 Hi, friend!
@alice_digest Not It Happened One Summer! I think I gave it 1 star. It was so bad...
@clacksee You're very welcome! Always happy to recommend queer romance books. You were great at identifying exactly what types of romances you wanted to read. I've seen too many "if you love Heated Rivalry, read this" lists, and it's just hockey romances (or sports romances), which kind of misses the entire point.

Liam and his father are home. We got them back. Keep up the pressure. We have a lot more people to get back.

Liam wear his bunny hat. He's standing next to his father, who is dressed in red. His father holds a sign that says "thank you for your prayers". They stand in the snow, on a Minnesota sidewalk.

Making It So by Patrick Stewart

If Patrick Stewart loves one thing, it’s the Royal Shakespeare Company. Most of this memoir is about his time with the RSC, which is fine. Just be aware, fellow Star Trek fans.

Stewart’s career very much hinged on much more (luck, community, kind people, the unpaid labor of women and gay men) than only his raw talent and gained skill, and it felt like that kind of always bothered him, even as he acknowledged privileges.
