@annajfinley this has been my concern with requiring but it makes making it "optional" hard too unless you are very careful with signaling the default expectations... (and even then, if I was one of these students and was unsure, I just wouldn't apply.)

@erichehman totally. That's how I'm feeling lately too.

@sanjaysrivastava @mjkane I'm one step closer to being the super villain I've always wanted to be.

There has been lots of chatter about #GRExit lately and whether or not programs should require the GRE. Our department is trying to figure out our GRE policy, so I compiled the requirements in psychology for the 65 Association of American Universities.

Like it or not, the writing is on the wall..

@robchavez I’m still puzzled by my Wrapped, particularly the new “My Audio Day” feature. Is this a genre ? An aesthetic ?

@emdupre haha! Wow, I love this

I'm not sharing my Spotify year-in-review because my taste in everything is absolute dog shit.

This is a piece I wrote last year about family, ethnicity, science, and the parallels between straddling multiple identities in multiple domains. A very personal perspective, highlighting my love of writing non-technical prose that I hope to do much more of in the coming years.

Interested in state-to-state migration patterns? The US Census has data on that, and I turned it into a no-frills shiny app. Plots include both where people came from and where they left with raw counts and log ones to see details.

Check it out!

If someone is able to look back at the history of humanity as it reaches its last years on earth, they will likely note how insane it was that at the most critical time in the struggle to maintain a livable #climate, we began creating #cryptocurrencies that consume vast amounts of energy to produce (currently using more electricity than the entire country of Argentina) and add nothing of real or lasting value to human civilization or to the care and protection of earth, our only home.

@RoarStovner @sanjaysrivastava Many of us here are not worried about paywalls because we know they aren't too hard to scale.

I suppose there's no better first post on this tootin' site than a shameless plug for a new paper!

We examine how phenotypic prototypicality predicts identity strength in biracial people. Spoiler alert: it does not.

@flourn0 uhh, no it wasn't... (gotta admit, I'm a little salty about Mastodon in general. This doesn't help)
