@flxtr v055n is the last stable version.
And v055v should be available on F-Droid. There may be problems we don't forsee right now, but the expectation is that it'll be released on F-Droid, too (unlike v055u which had build issues specific to the F-Droid flavour on our end).
@bsm Crashlytics isn't necessarily a "trackerware".
For a firewall app like Android, stability is paramount. We tried & failed building a cost effective, scalable crash reporter ourselves.
1. Crashlytics isn't included in F-Droid builds, and it won't ever be.
2. Crashlytics is off by default (an end-user may opt-in from Configure -> Settings -> Stability program).
3. With v055v, an end-user will be able to create firewall rules (allow/block IP/Domain) to Rethink's own connections.

@mattblaze @briankrebs @ai6yr @mousey There are ways to regain control of your own data. For Android, @GrapheneOS is recommended, for example. For a private keyboard, you can find several options on F-Droid, such as FlorisBoard, which does not send any data to the internet. You can check this (and restrict all other apps as you wish) with @rdns. Once everything is configured, it works great. But sure, there's no 100%.
@flxtr v055t has a severe bug that corrupts the "app details" database. We've since fixed it for v055u, but that version has other problems.
v055v is the upcoming version, which is ready for a release since Jan 3rd week, but both the lead developers are on leave until 18 Feb, which is why v055v has been delayed for the time it has.

Rethink DNS app is a game changer for anyone concerned about privacy. The on-device blocklist is super useful for DNS filtering. It also has the ability to use SOCKS5, HTTP(S) and WireGuard proxies.
Highly recommended if you're using any privacy intrusive Android flavors or just or for blocking ads or trackers. Available on F-Droid. https://f-droid.org/en/packages/com.celzero.bravedns/

@creaturr @lauchmelder @kuketzblog @sadmin @IzzyOnDroid The app on GitHub is a "universal apk" and is the same as the Play Store variant, including signing keys. The ones we publish to F-Droid are split per-architecture and "lean" at 22MB. The per-arch libs are compressed in the final build and are not 30MB in size in the apk. v055u won't be released to F-Droid. It is Play Store + GitHub only.
@streetcoder @kuketzblog The troubling part is, these institutions can move all of that (a/b testing, personalization, push notifications etc) to the backend and we'll never know by looking at the client-side network logs.
Perhaps, due to GDPR, we can expect to see these 3P providers listed as "sub processors".
@carluwe @kuketzblog The geo IP location shown in Rethink isn't accurate. It uses a free geo IP database dump by db-ip.com. Rethink also has an alternate online database hosted by IPInfo that can be turned ON from Configure -> Settings -> Show provider information. The downside is, a network request to Rethink's endpoint (which are serverless & have no disks, if it makes it any better) is required to fetch the current geo IP for any given IP, but once fetched, the answer is cached on the device.
