The End of the Month for the second time of the year we have yet another British Banking technical failure.
Lloyds Bank and Halifax apps went down on Friday morning, according to thousands of user reports to platform outage monitor Downdetector. For the lay-person, Lloyds Bank, Halifax, TSB and the older Bank of Scotland (HBOS) are all under legal entities under the Lloyds Banking Group umbrella. If an failure of infrastructure, systems and applicatins takes place under TSB, then it certainly means the rest of the group under the umbrella will be affected, and so it has proven, once again.
Commenters believe this is the aging mainframe and "bridging" architecture that is at fault. They do not believe in nefarious cyber attack or other outside attackers. Nor is likely to be deliberate compromise.
