@technomancy Delta Chat is a great recommendation for anyone thinking “We need a new chat protocol”. 😉
(Seriously, it does work but it’s not ready for the public.)

@mcc Separately, I'd had a very personal take: investing into the crypto industry, given their lobbying goals and political influence, may or may not align with your values. HTH. :)
@Aschenbrenner Microsoft’s IDE
@Aschenbrenner And inside a browser too! j/k :)
@gamingonlinux So sad. :AAAAAA:
Remember when Altman tried to sell the world that GPT-5 had "PhD-level" intelligence? :thinkhappy:
Pfff. 🤦♂️
@rysiek Maybe that's why @signalapp is slow today.
Down with computing ✊🏻
all these blog posts about vibe coding are such a snooze fest
it's like reading restaurant reviews instead of watching the chef cook

Ultimately I just don't think you're ever going to get me excited about paying someone else money so I can not do the things I enjoy, and for me, at least, this goes double for things I'm kind of bad at.
Combine that with everything else bad about the AI industry as it exists today and, well, is it any wonder I don't like hearing about it?

I’ve launched a Citation Needed membership drive to celebrate publishing my 100th recap issue!
Citation Needed critically covers cryptocurrency, the crypto industry, and its influence on policy. Paid subscriptions support much more than just the newsletter — here’s what goes into this work:
@7heo Yes. I'm glad you have something you enjoy too!
From what I've read, both metal and ceramic have their pros and cons. I'm pretty sure that the ceramic burr in the Skerton is not super high quality, that's why I can get a much more efficient metal burr for "cheap". IIUC a metal burr is easier to make sharp, but will dull before a ceramic burr because ceramic is a harder material.
TBH, I think it'll take me years before noticing a change with either, for home usage. :)
I found a nice #coffee grinder recently, the Chestnut C3S. It's quite remarkable IMHO, it feels sturdy, it's fast, and it does its job perfectly (maybe not as well as The Comandante, but < $$$).
It's reconciled me with my old espresso machine, b/c I could experiment with different grinds quickly until I found one that allows for a decent espresso. :blobcatcoffee:
My Hario Skerton is officially retired. It has served me well but its ceramic burr has gotten less sharp after all these years.
I'm looking into #GitHub Actions to build a #rust app for different platforms (e.g. linux/amd6, windows/amd64, macos/aarch64). I pretty quickly ran into issues on MacOS re: dynamically linked libs (hello openssl!). I wonder if there are some ready made recipes on the fediverse. Do let me know if you know! 🙏🏻🤓
(I want to take advantage of MS' free CPU and runners: even if GitHub is a hot pile of 💩 these days, there's still some free stuff to extract from MS.)
