This is a very cool thing, and precisely the kind of "total oppositional" thinking people need to be doing right now to meaningfully disrupt the fascist project in whatever ways they can. Obviously you're not toppling Hitler by putting a flag on your car, but we need to be thinking about ways to make doing fascism COST more, everywhere.

Two huge things impact what makes us think Black and poor neighborhoods are “high crime”:

Europeans didn’t develop an affinity for “fancy” copper roofs, gutters, and downspouts just because they’re pretty and shiny.

Copper is more importantly a fungicide which largely reduces algae growth.

But those PVC and aluminum gutters sure are cheap when you refuse to factor in the larger cleaning burden. It’s not just aesthetic, algae can grow thick and clog anything.

What a jewel Heroku has been. I've seen so many deployment paradigms and PaaS equivalents since.

Some alternatives eventually approximated the simplicity and elegance, but it's wild how convoluted and unwieldy deployment platforms and systems still are for even the most simple stacks.

Sad for the good people who made Heroku work for years and for folks (like me) who still rely on it.

In the video of Tamir Rice being murdered before the police pull up you see him splashing in a puddle, breaking the icy film on it in that little scrap of park in a Cleveland winter.
