The food in CDMX was on another level. We literally dedicated an entire day as our “food day” and got soo much good food! Highlight was the “Expendio de Maiz” where they keep serving you corn based dishes until you say stop and then we wanted to have a fancy dinner at Quintonil which was unfortunately booked out, however our alternative Bajel was just as good! 🤤🤤🤤

Yesterday’s Popocatépetl post got me thinking about my two day Acatenango & Fuego hike in Guatemala - so here’s a little #TBT. 🌋🔥

We started in the worst possible conditions - rain and thick fog. Also somehow I ended up going out super later the night before. Youthful recklessness I guess 🤷‍♂️ Anyhow.. just as we reached the peak, the skies cleared, and we got the perfect view of Fuego. The night hike up to the crater, watching eruptions light up the sky every few minutes. Absolutely unreal. Google volcanic lightning if you’ve never seen it before!

Guess I’ll have to go back with a better camera though… my night shots are a disaster. 😄 Also let’s not forget the best guide dogs who walked with us for the full two days! 🐶💞

The Iztaccíhuatl-Popocatépetl National Park was a cute nature escape and against expectations super quiet - climbing higher as the air gets thinner and the cold sets in, only to be rewarded with epic views.⛰️ Seeing an active volcano will never cease to amaze me. Puebla is a city full of history, colors, and some of the best food in Mexico (right after Oaxaca probably 😉). Spent our days wandering the historic center, and trying the famous mole poblano. Absolutely worth the stopover on our way to the volcanoes. 🌋🔥 Gotta come back when chiles en nogada are in season! Did you know Puebla was the battleground where Mexican forces defeated the French which is today celebrated as Cinco de Mayo?
