MX Linux week ending news are sad.

Jerry Bond, a core developer (and the lead maintainer of the huge MX Manual amongst many other things) has passed away.

Jerry was known in the MX forum as โ€œjerry3904โ€. The family is grieving but otherwise OK. Rest in piece.

@Linux Maybe in not that very distant future GSP equipped NVIDIA cards can "just work" out of the box great on basically every distro. A win for regular users for sure. NOVA appears Red Hat's attempt to create a driver that only working with GSP and "Turing" GPU cards while leaving Nouveau to the previous cards.

Meta (Facebook) has started deleting comments / posts on Facebook where a well established and beloved Linux site distrowatch.com is mentioned.

Accounts there became flagged as a "danger to cyber security" via Linux and Distrowatch related topics.

Things keep getting funnier and sillier are they not ๐Ÿ™‚

Then again - Meta / Facebook is a rusty thing of a past in every sense..

MX news ending october

Debian dropped 32 bit kernel builds as of 6.11 kernel release.

Change logs indicate that Debian will not be building 32 bit x86 kernels in Debian 13 and onward.

This does not affect MX 21 or MX 23 users. At this time no decisions have been made for MX 25.

* AHS firmware updates coming soon (again) *

What happened with the bad update is Debian upstream subdivided their existing firmware packages into many smaller sub-packages, and the depends were not quite right for a straight update on MX.
