people talk like talent is some magical power bestowed at birth and not what it actually is which is a culmination of effort and learning from mistakes then they build their argument about how they "could never draw" from that position

I saw someone on bluesky trying to justify using AI art by saying talent is a gatekeeping mechanism and that people who can't afford commissions can only either make unprofessional art or use AI

like tbh you should just make art even if you don't like how it turns out bc there isn't such a thing as bad art as long as you put effort into it but I feel like as someone who's done art her whole life I feel like for as long as I can remember people have used the word talent like that

I'm a solo, low income, disabled older woman and have been without accessible independent transportation for about a year now. It will cost at least $8K to get something that meets my access needs.

@wlukewindsor I'm glad you said this because vacuuming is one of the things that wipes my spoons out quite thoroughly yet if I talk about how exhausting it can be for me, I think a lot of folks would say it's nothing.
