@daringfireball re: SERVICES: B (LAST YEAR: B) —- IIRC, Apple said “AI” would be on device and free to users. The first serious AI features to launch are in the Creator Studio, which requires people to pay to access the AI features. Seeing features you can’t use in an app is baked-in advertising. This feels like a bait-and-switch Services Revenue Play to me, and I really don’t like what it may be foreshadowing!

@grmpyprogrammer ok, rude first as opposed to rude in response.

Anybody who is rude to people is the wrong kind of person for everything.

My book, Accessibility For Everyone, is now free and online as a website.

accessibilityforeveryone.site

The book was first published by A Book Apart in 2017 but it holds up! It covers web accessibility for designers, developers, content folks, and really everyone who works in tech.

@grmpyprogrammer Sorry, man. I know you’ve deacribed that as your own personal hell for quite a while now.

@daringfireball My take on “experience” is that it must be audio/video related, so either the new HomePods, or something Bision-related. Maybe the HomePods are a test bed for the new Siri? Vision seems too far fetched for right now, but I’d love to be proven wrong.

I setup a new laptop straight from Apple on the weekend. Went very smoothly… UNTIL I went to launch Apple Music.

It hung for quite a while, and when it finally launched it was logged into my wife’s Apple Music. I logged her out and logged back into mine and her name appeared again!

She’s part of my family plan, but she had never touched that laptop. WTAF? That’s a major authentication & authorization fail!

@viticci Saw this vid. Thought of you. How to save 97% on your OpenClaw usage NOT by just using by a local LLM. youtu.be/RX-fQTW2To8?si=tL3qCN

PSA for all Mac users, but especially ones who miss or envy how Maximize Window works on Windows:

 → Settings → Desktop & Dock → Window title bar double-click action → Fill

@daringfireball as the “AI-enhanced Engineers” like to say when examining huge git diffs, “LGTM” (looks good to me).

Do you ever just sit back and go “Man, we have great performance and some really good tools, like composer & packagist, rector, pint, phpstan, phpinsights, pest, phpunit, various mature frameworks with different philosophies and goals, etc.” It’s an embarrassment of riches.

@interestingmonkey Yup, waaaay too much. Vision Pro / Immersive concerts would be very welcome at this point. I always remember that video where someone tells Kurt Cobain that Madonna charged $50 or $75/ticket, and the absolute greed blew his mind. We need more like him, but there was only one 😢

@interestingmonkey June 25 in Toronto, Paul Simon. Front row tickets are $4300 each. Back row tickets are $56 each. Wow.

Say we get a MUCH improved Siri & Apple Intelligence soon. When we do, will it even approach what OpenClaw can already do in a cross-platform way for free? I’m gonna say it definitely won’t, but I’d love to be proven wrong.
