@skribe @harrym when I think of the greatest repeated, daily risk to my life, it's a 37 year old in a Ford Ranger more than a 15 year old on a scooter

@ryanbooker oh yeah the whole episode is gonna be the battle. Epic.

@ryanbooker yup. Main actor is nailing Dunk’s, he’s very endearing in his manners. Last episode had some great twists I didn’t see coming.
Also it repeats the GoT formula of “yeah things are bad right now, but just wait until underdogs come back with a vengeance” which I love.

He’s just invented the selfie by taking a picture of himself in the mirror. I still haven’t told him about the front-facing camera on his iPad.

My son has taken the habit of taking pictures of mundane things around the house, which means that in ~60 years he will be teary-eyed reliving his childhood with crisp HDR pictures.

We never used the term "cake batter" when I was a kid, we said "cake mix." When I first heard cake batter, in my early 20s, I assumed someone took a slice of cake, dipped it in batter and deep fried it. As I'm Scottish I don't think this is completely unreasonable.

There are two problems in computer science:

1. We could do this better
2. We should not do this at all

@christianselig Does your distributor allow you to install such an oversized system? In most of the world there are regulations that cap the size of the system (usually depends on whether your dwelling is on single-phase or 3-phase) so as not to overwhelm the local electrical infrastructure

@christianselig Backup power makes sense...
But filling them with solar seems far-fetched, here Down Under I max out at ~45kWh per day around the Summer solstice with a 5kW system. You must have an oversized system to be able to generate that much energy in a day in Canada!

@christianselig 80 kWh is already an insane amount of energy! How do you plan on using it?

It will never stop being funny to me that the whole "you can't trust Wikipedia because anyone can edit it" scare happened and now Wikipedia is the only trustworthy website because it turns out profit motive is the reason things turn to shit.

@decryption That's so stupid considering one of the main problem on the NEM nowadays is that we have *too much* power during the day and solar/wind farms have to be curtailed because of congestion. Consuming excess solar locally without having to transmit it is exactly what we need more of.
But of course that shitcunt probably doesn't reason with logic 🙄

for some reason they’re all mad at me now, which means ill be adding commands to JEREMY.md for an attitude adjustment

The two hardest problems in Computer Science are

1. Human communication
2. Getting people in tech to believe that human communication is important

Renaud Lienhart boosted:

it's probably because of how it does it, how it affects the entire world and the people in it, who profits from that, and what the future will be like if the world's richest humans are allowed to use it to enclose all human knowledge! hope that helps.

"I feel like I may never fully understand why you people don't find things like this useful.
What if you could consume, integrate, manipulate and recontextualize data about literally everything you care about?
It's still so perplexing to me that people are so mad about free context for any thing they love."
