People should be able to write software for Android, and distribute it outside Google's Play store, without having to:

* pay Google
* give government ID to Google
* agree to Google terms and conditions

People should be able to install the software they want on their phone, from sources other than Google's Play store, without having to jump through Google-imposed hoops.

e.g. via F-Droid.

We've got until September this year to stop Google squeezing the open Android ecosystem.

@Hierarchy I am not sure yet. 🫤 Each alternative has its disadvantages.

I am bound to Meta through Instagram because of profiles related to social causes in my area or artists I like. Putting the explanation to my profile being empty along with a link to a CV sounds great on one hand, on the other — I still use Meta, so I'm not sure this move wouldn't look silly or dishonest to a third party.

I would prefer not to be on LinkedIn but that will end in me not receiving work offers, I do get a message or so every few months. I am afraid I cannot afford not having this visibility.

I wish for a professional platform allowing posts but that is not a dumpster fire. One can hope.

I asked because I was curious of what other like-minded people do. :)

Then filtering down to the top 1000 instances by active user from instances.social who had posted at least 24 images (1.5x the average).

Is there some sensible alternative to #linkedin? So that I could at least link to my profile on a platform that does not disgust me in case a prospective employer asks.

Self-hosting is out of question for now.

We're overdue for a realization that several generations of economic policy is based on bullshit.

The idea of the effectiveness of the for-profit business, which rules both the private & public sector, is nonsense. All of it. It was always a fantasy & we need to do away with it.

Effective business is possible, obvi, but "run as a business = good" as a principle? Should have never been a thing.

We have to stop playing on those terms. New economy, now.
