My vote is for the x220! :D.
I have it on my x260. And there is a great github repo for hardware tweaks on nixos. It covers lots of device specific quirks. And has almost every thinkpad in it.
If you are happy right now, then there is no reason to switch, never feel pressured to do so :).
For me it was curiosity and wanting to switch away from Nobara. As I wanted something I could "tinker" with more freely. And was less aimed towards convenience (its own update manager etc)

Honestly give it a try :D.
I was on Arch first, then Fedora (Nobara) and then switched to NixOS. In the start I didn't want to switch, but it grew on me so much that I stayed.
Most I do is gaming, some blender, rarely some video editing. And it's been great!
Cant imagine going back now ^^.
But it can be a bit overwhelming... Get familiar with just the config file first. And leave flakes and home manager for later would be my recommendation.
