So it looks like PHP lost to Python.
But under the hood it shows that the number of people trying to make *their* language win between those two is about 6 times more than in the average previous vote.
The *difference* between the two is about the amount of people that voted in some of the other elections *in total*
So what it shows is that there is a huge community for the two languages here on Mastodon.
So a great match and good luck to Python! Event though I'm team PHP
@itworldcup This is a testament to how much of each community has made it over to the fediverse :)
#ITWorldCup Day 42 - Quaterfinal: Match 2
@freekmurze @brendt @sebastian @afilina @Crell @mwop @ian @Skoop @nunomaduro come on people lets boost and overtake Python π :elephpant: we gotta push PHP into the next round
phpc.social is now running Mastodon 4.5.5, released about a half-hour ago. #mastoadmin
@Crell @derickr @afilina @sebastian @phpc_tv You already know this, but for Longhorn PHP your content is your own; feel free to post any of the recordings you've been sent, and of course any other speaker is free to do the same :)
@sebastian @phpc_tv I pulled the MergePHP back catalog from YouTube earlier, plus some other earlier Austin tech videos. When Longhorn PHP videos get posted publicly we'll post them at least on phpc.tv.
Right now I have a feeling this is just an awareness issue; as a conf organizer having a place that doesn't throw ads on videos is an easy win.
@lo_fye @sebastian @phpc_tv idk, that sounds rather algorithmic. So...maybe not?
Day 1 patch notes:
- We're now federating! You can follow accounts and channels from Mastodon and other Fediverse platforms. Example search: channel@phpc.tv
- Registrations are open to the public! Users will need to wait for approval like on phpc.social. We temporarily set a user count limit, but if all goes smoothly, we'll lift it.
@sebastian @afilina One other rather intentional thing is that phpc.tv and phpc.social currently run on different infrastructure from a set of providers that doesn't overlap, none of which are the Big Three hyperscalers (Google, Amazon, Microsoft). So the community is resilient at a technical level as well as at a moderation and control level.
@hskrasek Arch as the base image for the containers or arch as the host OS for the "hypervisor" (nside proxmox)?
We're excited to introduce https://phpc.tv, a community-run video platform by PHP developers, for PHP developers.
No ads, no algorithmic feed manipulation, no "see less often". It's also entirely non-profit and community-focused.
Over 400 PHP-related videos are already available, with more being added. If you create PHP content or know someone who does, we'd love to have your videos in the catalog!
I did a thing.
@ralphschindler I was gonna say "is it Claude or Ralph" and then realized there's a namespace collision there
Verizon has been down for 8 hours because:
@jerry Seems like postpaid (non-MVNO) only. So seems like their provisioning team vibed too hard.
"In China, driverless delivery vans have become a total meme, they plow through crumbling roads, fresh concrete, motorcycles, anything. Nothing stops them."
@kboyd @ocramius If Xitter wasn't allowing for AI-gen'd CSAM-or-close-to-it (I don't know which firsthand fortunately), I'd say merely "all governments should move off of it in nay official capacity and tombstone the accounts."
As it stands, pitch Musk in jail, disconnect Grok from Twitter, seize xAI, sell Twitter so a functioning adult, and spend the proceeds on energy infrastructure.
