@sushee @sungo I still feel bad for installing Amazon’s Bookerly on my Kobo, but it’s also so cool that it’s possible. 😄

Hey! I'm waking up from my winter slumber and looking for #UX / UI / product roles or projects. I love to work with kind people, move with intent and fix things.

I'm here for all parts of the process, from research to strategy, working with devs, or building design systems, incl. illustrations! And I know a lot about OS design as well thru coaching Prototype Fund teams at Superbloom.

Where? Remote/Berlin-based.

Boosts appreciated!

Siehe z.B. roko.li/ueber-uns (UG+Verein).

We just published our latest member interview with designer-turned-developer Leslie. Contains absolute gems, such as:

“Well, I get up and get ready in the morning like probably most people do. I’m rather a late riser, so sometimes there’s time to eat my Müsli and drink a cup of coffee and sometimes there’s not. And then, I’m staring into my laptop for some hours and type things. Sometimes there’s a call.”

Happy typing things, everyone! 🙌

Some genius made his AI remind him to get milk in the morning and it used up his $20 account balance overnight because it kept checking if it was morning every 30 minutes. Lmao. “AI”

OpenClaw is interesting, but will also drain your wallet if you aren't careful.
Last night around midnight I loaded my Anthropic API account with $20, then went to bed.
When I woke up, my Anthropic balance was $O.
Opus was checking "is it daytime yet?" every 30 minutes, paying $0.75 each time to conclude "no, it's still night."
Doing literally nothing, OpenClaw spent the entire balance. How?The "Heartbeat" cron job, even though literally the only thing I had going was one silly reminder, ("remind me tomorrow to get milk")
1. Sent ~120,000 tokens of context to Opus
4.5
2. Opus read HEARTBEAT md, thought about reminders
3. Replied "HEARTBEAT_OK"
4. Cost: ~$0.75 per heartbeat (cache writes)
The damage:
- Overnight = ~25+ heartbeats
- 25 × $0.75 = ~$18.75 just from heartbeats alone
- Plus regular conversation = ~$20 total
The absurdity: Opus was essentially checking
"is it daytime yet?" every 30 minutes, paying $0.75 each time to conclude "no, it's still night."

It is just wild to see people who have historically been advocates of the open web throw their lot in with the VC-backed, closed-source, privately-owned, license-infringing, rent-seeking theft-machine makers.

Truly an exciting time to be alive.

Quite a phenomenal campaign ad from the Greens down in England. Strong. I firmly believe that any political party not running this same message will fail.

@harryfk given that i receive a "we've updated our policies" email on a near-daily basis from one service or another, i generally assume that even if all my data isn't being gobbled up by the hosted model, it one day will be. so i treat it as such.

it's about on par with slack owning the text of all your chats and training models with it (which they do) or facebook owning the copyright over all your instagram photos (which they do).

if it's not happening now, it will happen. so it's safest to just assume it's already happened unless you choose a tool that actively prevents it from happening in a way you control, like an open source agent.

@harryfk

more of a comment than an answer: i started using VSCodium, because the unwanted AI/Copilot integration in VSCode felt increasingly irritating. so far it works really well
