iOS 26.4 beta adds a bunch of new features in Apple Music. I’m grateful to have had a hand in bringing Concerts to the app, and hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Fortunately the password has to be exactly eight characters, only numerical digits, so no problem, I can remember it. And even better, once I’ve logged in once, it’s replaced with a FIVE digit numerical code that I am to use henceforth! What a system!

Setting up the CCF (French bank) app: enter username and password. Ok! But the fields aren’t tagged so iOS doesn’t know how to autofill them. Oh well, it happens, switch over to the Passwords app and copy and paste. But CCF closes the login modal as soon as you leave the app. Does it at least cache the username so I can go back and get the password? Reader, it does not.

I’m a week in to living in France. So far so bureaucratic. Somehow I have managed to sign up for a phone plan, a bank account (pending approval), and a year long lease on a furnished apartment (pending signatures). But Vélib’… velib escapes me.

The political lesson of the last 20 years is that when putatively left-of-center parties promise voters hope and change, but then deliver more of the same, it ends up creating the backlash conditions for right-wing authoritarianism.

It’s a very straightforward truism.
