@etp @lionelb great! If you get it, do check the roots before you plant it. I have had bad experiences even with Ingegnoli which should know better.

@MPaola @lionelb Good tip. I do normally repot after getting plants from the nursery, and will be extra vigilant.

I didn't find it at all temperamental in England. Hardy and reliable, given sympathetic pruning. Here in Italy it seems to thrive in the local park. Maybe it will do in a pot on our terrace.

@MPaola I had to go to the nursery this morning to pick up little pots, and I just happened to note that they had quite a few Chimonanthus, small ones 30 €. Luckily I was not in my car. I am sorely tempted to go back, and soon, so that I get some of the benefit this season.

@MPaola I hear you. A domestic battle for me too, over the style of dead heading. I try to fix things after the fact.

@MPaola my local one never flowers, so no seed. 😢 And yes, I was just thinking of scents I remember. Honeysuckle. Freesias, coming soon.

@MPaola They are very English, and they remind me of my home garden. That's why! But we have so many scented plants, not even counting roses or wintersweet, which I cannot for the life of me get to grow here and which the park gardeners butcher every year so that it never flowers. I've tried semi-hard and soft cuttings, and nothing seems to take.
