Watching the Olympics 8 years ago was what inspired me to create the yo-yo emoji. That’s when I realized that curling had its own emoji, but yo-yos didn’t. That lead to a year long quest to fix that.

Congrats to the teachers and other members of the UESF on their historic victory. Securing better pay, safer schools, and fully funded healthcare contributions for dependents.

Peaches is back with "No Lube So Rude" and her first album in over ten years. Watch the relatively bawdy music video here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4z1hbMzt2hQ

It’s cool seeing tabloid-style printing making a comeback for hyperlocal news in SF. No data tracking or paywalls.
@timotimo yeah, I am dubious about how many of these agents are fully autonomous. As we saw with Moltbook, many entries were written by humans pretending to be bots. Maybe something like that is happening here, or maybe it's some mistake in it's output. https://www.forbes.com/sites/ronschmelzer/2026/02/10/moltbook-looked-like-an-emerging-ai-society-but-humans-were-pulling-the-strings/
@csilverman thanks for the suggestion, I'lll check that out.
Here's one of the hit pieces published by "MJ Rathbun", an OpenClaw powered AI agent, in retaliation for having its change request denied. There's many more on the site, the bot keeps cranking them out. https://crabby-rathbun.github.io/mjrathbun-website/blog/posts/2026-02-11-gatekeeping-in-open-source-the-scott-shambaugh-story.html
An autonomous AI agent published a hit piece about a Python project maintainer after its change request was denied.
Scott Shambaugh tells the story of how the rise of OpenClaw style agents are making things even harder for Open Source maintainers. https://theshamblog.com/an-ai-agent-published-a-hit-piec
Roadmap 2026 — Charting the stars of the open social web
The 2026 roadmap focuses on making WordPress easier to discover and interact with across the Fediverse. Key areas include better search and recommendations through FASP support, Starter Packs to help users find communities, a more interactive Reader with reactions and replies, direct messages, and client-to-server APIs. Alongside these, we’ll continue improving interoperability, long-form publishing, and overall federation features.https://activitypub.blog/2026/02/11/roadmap-2026-charting-the-stars-of-the-open-social-web/
@verge I'll believe it when the people in Minneapolis have said it's actually happened. Feds lie.
Added @evangreer's "You Will Have To Come Through Us" to my big list of anti-ICE protest songs.

I think I'll stop updating that list now and save any new songs for a follow-up post.
@SKleefeld I like Millar too, but yeah, this sounds bad.
@BlackAzizAnansi I think about this when people talk about the the rise of AI coding and the end of human-readable code.

Fun fact!
Testard’s 15th century illustrations were the inspiration for Killer Queen (2013, https://killerqueenarcade.com/howtoplay).
The Twin Cities College For The Easily Amused is a skilltoy club I started in 2000. Now I'm selling some old Easily Amused yo-yos to raise money for community building efforts in MPLS. https://doctorpopular.com/shop/college-for-the-easily-amused-yo-yos-community-fundraiser/ #yoyo
@Rhababerbarbar it's a post about this project https://github.com/ccwod/meshtastic-signal-bridge
The OP says they created the project using genAI coding. Most of the replies are regarding cyber security concerns. Some people are concerned because it was AI coded, others are concerned because bridging Signal to Meshtastic takes away Signal's security encryption and makes messages more public.
