The Bay Area Mesh group is launching two high-altitude balloons in a few minutes, each carrying Meshtastic radios in the payload. Watch the live stream here: https://youtube.com/live/j7MsniL_C3I
Let’s see how high Meshtastic can fly.
OK, the big experiment has begun. A ham radio group has funded the scanning of 4,000 manuals from the Great Manuals Plus Haul. Now, the experiment is - will people kick on a special link in the blog entry to help fund the other 20 PALLETS of manuals?

I built myself one of these today for some /p action when it gets warmer again. Nice and simple λ 1/4 antenna. The plan is to use it with an ADX-S qrp TRX which yet has to be delivered from china.

The trolley problem: your imagination versus the even sadder reality. (Just got this from a friend who also collects trolley problem variants.)
Katherine Johnson passed away in 2020, at the age of 101. Editorial cartoonist Steve Breen’s lovely tribute perfectly captured Johnson’s contributions to the US space program.

Amateur radio is the hobby of "Not sure if that antenna will work? Just try it. You might be surprised!"
I've seen people load up all kinds of crazy things for antennas, including the chain link backstop on a baseball field, aluminum patio chairs, and those wire cages you put around tomato plants. I saw a guy load up an incandescent light bulb on WSPR and was heard halfway across the country.
Stop agonizing about it, and just try it!

Late addition: covered distances as below, data rates to/from the Internet were in the single Mbps range. More information (in German) here: https://forum.amateurfunk-ulm.de/showthread.php?tid=48&pid=87#pid87

@SecurityWriter it was either this or sleep.

I think Mastodon people should use the "like" button more.
People are told not to like because liking doesn't broadcast posts like boosting does, and the site needs boosts. And replies are preferred because they're deeper engagement or something.
But, on some level, we want people to keep using Mastodon. If someone posts something and followers like it, they know stuff is getting seen here and they'll want to keep using the site. I just don't see what's gained by holding back on the likes

Mowing became fashionable during the Industrial Revolution when it was how the wealthy showed off they didn't need to grow their own food.
250 years on and manicured lawns are so embedded in our culture that despite the adverse impacts many can't envision any alternatives.

I've FINALLY completed the updated version of my No Nonsense General Class License Study Guide. The Kindle version will be on my website (kb6nu.com/study-guides) tonight and the Kindle version on Amazon as soon as they review it. The print version will follow later this week.
