The people of Minnesota are fucking marvellous.
They're deliberately putting Mexican flags on their cars so that CBP/DHS waste time chasing them. They're calling it ICE fishing 🤣 ✊
Bluegrass guitar pickin’, old time banjo pluckin’ Bostonian from AZ. Formerly in tech collaboration software, UX, product management. Mostly tooting about music, once or twice a day. #bluegrass #oldtime #guitar #banjo #boston #jazz

Nice article in the paper about the festival I’m helping to organize. Hope it’s not paywalled!
The following appeared on BostonGlobe.com:
Headline: After a 5 year hiatus, the Joe Val Bluegrass Festival returns to Framingham
Date: Feb 4, 2026
The indoor festival, which takes place Feb. 12 through 15 at the recently rebranded Renaissance Framingham, is back after facing pandemic and venue-related challenges.

I don't want to talk about Black history yet. I want to talk about why if you grew up in the North or West, your high school history book likely talked about the "Articles of Secession,"
but if you grew up in the South, those parts are removed and lied about.🙂🙃
Disinformation.
You can literally go and read the "Declaration of Causes of Seceding States," primary documents written by confederates themselves, on why they are Seceding.

Some schools refuse to teach this.
On this day in 1972, Neil Young released 'Harvest.' His most intimate album topped the Billboard 200 and gave us "Heart of Gold" and "Old Man," folk-rock reflections that still feel timeless.
I’m kind of addicted to these “restore an old guitar I found in the trash” videos. There are several luthiers making videos, so if you watch this one, you’ll probably see the others.
I'm a software developer with 40 years' professional experience, lucky enough to be considering early retirement. I love writing code and don't want to stop. I'm keen to give something back and contribute to one or more open source projects.
The questions are, to what shall I contribute, and how do I get started?
My skills are mainly C++, having spent much of the past decade programmatically dismantling and reassembling Microsoft Office files. I'm quite happy to learn Rust or Go, but don't really like webby front-endy ux stuff.
Any suggestions for a worthy project to which I could contribute? Please boost if you can.

*Yes. I am saying this as an (somewhat) active musician with a (somewhat) prominent presence inside music business, administration and artist development.
Music and celebrity/fame are two completely different things and it’s time we started separating them.
Celebrity ruins the universal* language, art and power of music everyday. Fame killed my favorite musicians.
It’s time for this excessive culture to end already.
I don't think this is the "biggest barrier" to reaching new users.
The biggest barriers are:
* Popular content creators who ought to care about building independent social media don't know it exists or why it's important. What if Emma from MR were here? For example.
* Sign up remains hard. I know why people don't want to integrate google auth... but if it were an option for some servers it'd make a big difference.
* UI needs more work.
@jesuisatire The algorithm will not be televised…
@OrionKidder @marymessall @taylorlorenz this is the most underrated feature on mastodon and the key to opening up your feed right away to discover new people.
Tired: “Epstein was a major financier with an unfortunate fixation on young women”
Wired: “Epstein was an extortionist who trafficked women to blackmail unwitting billionaires to invest in his funds”
Inspired: “Epstein was a sex trafficker with billionaires, princes, and politicians as clients”
@Anne_Delong ha yes it is.

@tsyum @rednikki I believe precipitation is different from snowfall totals. Scroll further down under Precipitation and see this explanation. Still not the promised 2 feet!
Daily Summary
There has been O" of precipitation in the last 24 hours. Today's total precipitation will include 6-7" of snowfall with a total of 1.2" of liquid equivalent precipitation. In the next 24 hours, expect 7-8" of snowfall with a total of 1.5" of liquid equivalent precipitation.
I had bought this 1958 Gibson L-48 awhile ago and these stains always bugged me, so I got some Virtuoso Cleaner and it worked! Spent hours cleaning it, the result in those rags…looks like 60 years of dirt an grime came off. (Now you can see all the scratches, but that’s the character.)
