Reminding everyone that I have been out of work for about a year, as I continue my job search tour.
I have an eclectic background with 30 years experience, and a strong through-line in video post-production, IT
administration and systems design, deeply related to editing and finishing video and film, with
concentrations in macOS administration and pipeline automation focused needs. I am also a technological generalist, and learn new skills wicked fast.
If you know of a job I might be a good fit for, please let me know! remote or LA metro preferred.
I think imma just keep reposting this every day, as nothing expresses my rage about this farce better:
@meganmariehart Like many others, I saw your boost without any hashtags.
I usually forget to use hashtags and often end up shouting into the wind. But it is ok, I’m as introverted on-line as in person. A large response would likely overwhelm me - 😀
Good luck convincing your group.
BOOST OR QUOTE THIS!
Trying to find out how many people see a post without hashtags. Thank you!

Hello people, here'd be my #introduction
The name's Ari, 45yrs, located in #kouvola, #finland
I'm a long career #IT guy, nowdays self-employed but I've worn many hats from a van driver to an IT manager and everything in between.
I mostly work in the #opensource world. I'm not a coder, but I do stuff for my own entertainment with good old languages.
I wish to spend my free time on the road exploring the world and restoring old arcade games.
Feeling torn and wishing I could be in 2 places. My husband is an ocean away dealing with the grief of his Dad’s recent death. My son is here processing the loss of a grandparent while trying to work through his last high school math class. Class is required for college and I am his support.
Both need/want me in different ways. I need them in different ways.
My Father in Law was a kind and lovely man. He will be missed by many.
Fediverse friends, can you help me out?
I've been an independent contractor for a long time. Now that my salesperson is retiring, I'm looking for work, and open to contract work or regular employment (i.e. "get a real job") in or near Sunnyvale, CA.
I have degrees in computer science and management, usually develop systems of electronic circuits and software, and have been the principal engineer for a startup that grew to about 170, and a project's principal hardware engineer within a company of about 130,000.
Lately I've been getting highly motivated to find work, and open to nearly anything that offers at least a living wage.
I think that I might be doing something wrong with my resume.
If you are so inclined, would you please have a look at my resume (here in HTML, with contact info redacted) and perhaps offer a critique? Please feel free to message privately.
Thanks
I'm not going to waste my precious human time reading something that you didn't spend your precious human time writing.
I really don't care about the well-aligned randomly stolen words of a text-generating machine you are using for cheap marketing.
I have absolutely no memory of how I got everything done when I was actually working full-time. Somehow I did, for years. It's a mystery.
Relatedly, people who get bored after retirement puzzle me.
Hello!
Merci d'avance !
Small hack to find your people.
Instead of saying "I have this idea to do XYZ ..." say "Has anyone thought of doing XYZ and how could I join/help?". The thought here is that everything you can think of has already been thought by someone else. And instead of letting your ego win by hoping you, and only you, are the best leader for this idea, understand the power of ideas that are free to roam and find new friends.
My contract is ending at the end of February and so I’d like to find a new role ASAP.
I am a senior-level design systems developer / design technologist / front-of-the-frontend developer that specializes in web accessibility.
I work remotely from my home in Winnipeg, Canada. 🇨🇦
Shares appreciated! #FediHire #GetFediHired
Just know, if you ever hurt me, I told my hair stylist about it and she does not like you
I’m still looking for my next role. Primarily full-time, but also open to contract work to help pay the bills.
I have 15+ years of experience w/ PHP including 7+ with Laravel. My strengths also include a ton of experience with SQL, 3rd-party API integrations, managing dev teams, basic devops, & building internal tools.
I'm looking for remote roles or local to the Portland, OR/Vancouver, WA area. Thanks in advance for boosts.

I was laid off in October after 13 years at Amazon and am still seeking a new opportunity. Please ping me if you know of a full-time remote role working on network and/or infrastructure security (on-prem and cloud-based). I also have experience with embedded/OT/IoT network security and wireless security. After hours I run a small network (AS46577) and fiddle with microcontrollers, embedded Linux, ham radio, and drones. Boosts appreciated. #infosecjobs #getfedihired #jobhunt #jobsearch
#Introduction
I'm Alex (they/them) living in Canada. I've been around the fediverse for some time, but have not been very active until now, when I've also decided to experiment with self-hosting! As a blind person #accessibility means a lot to me, and I also enjoy science fiction and fantasy (although I haven't read as much recently as I'd like).
the whole ai-bro shtick about "ai democritizes art/programming/writing/etc" seemed always so bs to me, but i couldn't put it into words, but i think i now know how.
ai didn't democritize any of these things. People did. The internet did. if all these things weren't democritized and freely available on the internet before, there wouldn't have been any training data available in the first place.
the one single amazing thing that today's day and age brought us is, that you can learn anything at any time for free at your own pace.
like, you can just sit down, and learn sketching, drawing, programming, writing, basics in electronics, pcb design, singing, instruments, whatever your heart desires and apply and practice these skills. fuck, most devs on fedi are self taught.
the most human thing there is is learning and creativity. the least human thing there is is trying to automate that away.
(not to mention said tech failing at it miserably)
