In select GC-heavy microbenchmarks (garbage, from golang.org/x/benchmarks, and binary-trees Go #2, from the Computer Language Benchmarks Game), depending on core count, we observed anywhere from a 10–50% reduction in GC CPU costs compared to the existing Go GC.

Talk about bleeding edge technology... Go's new garbage collector brings a lower memory footprint and smaller CPU usage. So of course we had to try it! The Go team is building this out in public and their reasoning and design choices are really interesting. More on that below
