digging through my phone for a picture and found this

Two panels. Left side is a news article titled "Chinese woman discovers she's been using a hand grenade as a hammer for the last 20 years". Right side is the shifty eyed puppet, with "c++ engineers" written underneath.

@phranck It really is bad!

@petrillic There are so many frikkin' awesome things that Apple could do, but they won't.

Even simple things. Let me run macOS on an iPad Pro. Let me use touch on a MacBook. Let me upgrade storage. We know they can do all these things and more - they choose not to.

Instead they spend what must have been an incredible number of resources giving us Liquid Glass. They have lost the thread.

Time for Tim Cook to leave the building.

@trevorflowers Cool. I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts once you've had some time with it.

@DA1EE Thanks, the Ethernet port and hdmi out will be most useful for me. I’d use the SDR Control app from a Mac.

Sneak preview:
I'm in the process of making something. If you like the look and feel of terminals, if you like terminal-based tools/apps, if you're a software developer and simply want to have terminal UIs in your software... well, I'm building something really great. πŸ˜ƒ

I've hidden an Easter egg on the landing page. Once you've found it, wait a moment... there's a second one. 😎

Is there anyone out in land that has one of the new IC-7300 MK2 transceivers? I'd love to hear a review from someone other than a youtuber or retailer. Nothing against either of those groups, but I would like to hear more of a "person on the street" opinion.

The MK2 would be taking the spot of my current IC-7300, which will take the place of another radio.

@petrillic I saw someone recently who was wearing a T-Shirt that said "My favorite childhood memory... is my back not hurting".

@amoroso It is gratifying to see so many people entering. We have a lot of work to do in order to drive the average age down. It's still more of an old-person's hobby at this point. Myself included - I didn't get into it until I retired.

β€œI cannot remember the books I've read any more than the meals I have eaten; even so, they have made me.”
― Ralph Waldo Emerson

I am not a voracious reader, but over the decades of my life, I've read a lot of books, most of which I couldn't name. I find this quote wonderful, in part because it reminds me that I can still change and grow by letting more of the world in.

@petrillic That would be great! Let me know if there is anything I can do to facilitate.

2025 stats from online testing with the WM7X.net team:

2,542 got their Technician licenses
1,268 upgraded to General
498 upgraded to Amateur Extra

We had a total of 4,035 distinct applicants - some took more than one exam. A few took and passed all three in one sitting.

Even with slow going during the government shutdown, we had 350 more applicants than the previous year.

It is such a pleasure to watch people go from nerves at the beginning to excitement when they pass.

@carpetbomberz @fvzappa Cedar was an outlier in Xerox GUIs - overlapping windows were the norm. From the docs:

"This strategy of placing viewers adjacent to one another with no overlapping and no blank space is called tiling the screen. It is one of the most widely discussed aspects of the Cedar user interface, and often leads to heated, religious debates between its adherents and advocates of overlapping windows such as those employed in Interlisp and Smalltalk."

I happened to look at my Volunteer Examiner stats today and noticed that I've been in 499 sessions. It should roll to 500 tomorrow. All of these sessions were with the WM7X team. (wm7x.net).

I don't think I can figure out the total number of people I've tested. I'm not in every test during an online session.

It's been super-fun helping people get their licenses and/or upgrades.

Thanks for pointing this out Trevor. I think one of these with the Anderson Power Pole option is in my future. Or it may motivate me to build something like it. Or more likely, I will look at my list of unfinished projects and just order one.

@leafmuncher @mattferrell It’s just too good to believe until independent third party testing proves it out. Of course I would *love* for it to be true.
