If you rely on a service, do the grown-up thing and help pay for it.

Servers, storage, moderation, and uptime aren’t powered by vibes.

Even $5 / €5 helps.

Check your server’s About page. If you can afford a coffee, you can afford to contribute.

@homegrown You need to patch the Javascript frontend code as well, otherwise it won't work in the web UI.

Instead, the "default" server suggestions are going to be ones for a user's language and/or geographical location.

If your server matches these:

- General public server
- Running vanilla Mastodon
- Mastodon Covenant compliant
- Have existed for 1+ year
- Have shut-down & disaster plans

No real open source software in there, mostly open-core, if at all.

CryptPad is probably the closest, it can be self-hosted, but contains binary blobs from Onlyoffice.

Affine and StandardNotes are mostly commercial offerings, with a fig-leave open core model.

Focalboard is dead/unmaintained since 2024, why even mention it?

And Logseq is a single user application - what is that doing in a list of collab software?

Trotz "offenem" Strommarkt gibt es de fakto keine Konkurrenz, weil trotz dutzenden Anbietern zum Schluss alles in Landesbesitz liegt.
Man braucht also keine "Tricks", um die Energiepreise zu reparieren. Eine Reparatur des Föderalismus ist vollkommen ausreichend.

Den Cryptpad Entwicklern ist das also bewusst, und sie sichern sich so gut es geht ab.

@max Probably you will need to provide more information about your setup. Without knowing how your instance is set up, how much resources you have available (CPU, memory, etc), how much storage it uses and how big the database is, it's basically impossible to tell.
Do you have monitoring and/or metrics for your systems? Graphs would help.

In regards of memory management: in our k8s environment we observe the ruby web containers bloating now and then, which is a known issue. They get either OOM killed, or we restart them now and then. But nothing major seems to have change in this regard in a long time (at least since 4.3).
