@guyjantic True with the C -> K exchange, but in English the letter types are called »vowels and consonants«, German »Vokale und Konsonanten«, there isn’t a C in the English word »vowel« at all.

Re Schlaraffenland/Utopia, the reference is the »roasted parts of sentences« phrase. It is a well-known trope in German that in the Schlaraffenland the roasted pigeons would fly directly in one’s mouth (I think it was popularised by the Grimms but seems to be even older?)

@guyjantic interesting that Duden appears in there. Well-known German dictionary publisher. First edition was 1880, so Carroll/Wilde are probably too early. Cummings could work. Would guess a bit more modern though. Also alludes to a Grimm phrase about Utopia (Schlaraffenland, die gebratenen Tauben fliegen einem in den Mund). So some German-related references as it seems. Maybe even a translation of a German text? Spelling of Vokalia (~»Vowel country«) suggests it, too.

I think the point I’m mostly trying to make, if I may, is that there’s not only »covid-conscious leading to protection to the extent you’re taking« and »not covid-conscious at all« but that there is a lot of middle ground between these positions, some of which may be viewed from the outside as belonging to either pole.

@scy Felt excluded by the choices. Picked »no longer Covid-conscious« because that’s probably the appearance. My consciousness of the disease is still present. I get regular vaccinations, and I have somewhat changed my behaviour relative to pre-2020 with regards to ventilation and am more aware of exposure vectors to pathenogenes.

Still, I don’t mask or test in my day to day (but as you know, I readily do if asked). Guess I look like a »covid is over« type? It’s not over, it’s different.
