Fashion, Bad Artist, or Short?

Do they look like they are shorter than average?

It could be at least 3 things:
- Their too-long suit coats were the fashion at the time
- The artist who penciled over the enlargement was terrible at body proportions
- They were possibly short

Since the sons (assumed) are in color, that was probably done at a later date.

A gentle, soothing sponge bath and a bit of wood polish today for this lovely lady.

It's compo (plaster). I can tell because it has cracked and chipped off in the corner joints from being handled too many times.
It was varnished at some point so that has kept most of it intact.
