I'm a 40 something software/tech worker on the internet, but I’d rather be gardening. I enjoy writing music and spending time with nature here in the Rocky Mountains. I’m here to make friends and tell dad jokes, in no specific order. Much like Calvin and Hobbes, my posts go between irreverent silliness and observations on life.

My desk is cluttered like a level in Katamari. I realized this because my cat was on the desk “mao”ing at me as if to say “Where am I supposed to walk, hooman?’
@Lewie_Kong These tracks are nice! It’s all got this PlayStation meets drum and bass vibe… or is it jungle? I literally do not know the difference…
This led me to Pizza Hotline's Level Select which so far sounds like "what if someone made drum & bass using the playstation loading screen soundscape"
And I absolutely dig it.
Did some personal grooming and immediately received an email kicking me out of the Sasquatch Society
@iwoakura @Urban_Hermit @MarkAsser Thanks! My issue with oats is completely different than gluten. Oats actually cause my anxiety to spike. The hard part about that is that oats are everywhere and like you say, it could even be a cross contamination issue. Food is certified as gluten free but unfortunately certified oat free is not a thing. I just need to be aware of which products I need to avoid.
Also, I just remembered something! You can buy supplement pills that make it easier to process gluten. It’s kind of like the lactose pills for people with a dairy intolerance. You take them before a meal and it negates the worst of the side effects.
I mainly use them if I’m eating something “gluten free” from a restaurant but I’m worried about cross contamination. It’s not so I can just eat whatever, but it’s good insurance to have when I’m traveling. I need to add a disclaimer that I’m just a random guy on the internet, so you’ll have to do research to make sure it’s right for you 😊
@xerozohar @dawgeth Pinkies out when we use our four letter words :blobcat_beret_coffee:
EDIT: I meant to say pinkies out lol I’m sorry, I can’t read and I’m running with no caffeine… I’m gonna blame it on autocorrect 😅
this feels like a threatening email from a panda

@Urban_Hermit @MarkAsser I went through a similar journey a few years ago. I developed a sudden and gluten intolerance and I had to figure out what I could and couldn’t eat and which brands did and didn’t suck. On top of that I also developed an issue where I can’t have oats either.
The plus side is that I’ve learned to become a good cook and I’ve also been forced to broaden my culinary horizons. It’s not the end, it’s just another path - so to speak. I hope you are able to find some new favorites to enjoy.
@princessviola I’m so happy for both of you :blobcat_aww:
PADDINGTON, ONE OF OUR CATS, WHO WAS MISSING FOR OVER A WEEK JUST SHOWED UP AT THE DOOR. HE IS BACK. #cat #CatsOfMastodon
There's a lot of depressing shit on social media and in the news so it's okay to take a step back or not engage with it for your sanity.
We're in unpredictable times so do what you need to survive the week/month/year.
If you want a cigarette or a burger or whatever it is (as long as it doesn't negatively impact someone else) then do it. Take those mental health or sick days. Buy that video game. Smoke that weed. Eat that whole cake whilst watching the Golden Girls. Do what you need to do.
This seems like a good time for a reminder that when COVID hit in 2020 and everyone was living via Zoom Studio Ghibli released a bunch of images from their movies for free use as virtual meeting backgrounds, and those backgrounds are still up and free for you to use
