Here’s a little something I put together this week: Pinhead Map Icons. I was tired of digging through a bunch of different sources to find good cartographic icons, so I compiled all the public domain sources I could find into one unified set. You’ll see familiar faces from the likes of iD, OSM Carto, and National Park Service maps, plus some newcomers. Let me know what you think!

the last time it was acceptable to make a user interface that had the cursor lag when the user presses up and down was never. computers have always been fast enough to handle this.

return trip was longer bc they had to turn the train around and couple it to another one at Albany - the ticket was cheaper for a reason lol. Took time to eat in the cafe car, which was pretty nice considering how small it is. Food was cheaper than expected and fine. Round two (chicken ""bahn mi""") was more satisfying than the microwaved mac & cheese (still good, can't argue with hot food)

Overall a pretty good experience for a round-trip total of $160 or so

Context: I'm traveling from my house (Long Island) to Buffalo to meet up with my other partner and wanted to see what that would look like without a car, seeing as my spouse and I are down to a single 20 year old vehicle shared between us right now and I have to be extra cautious not to run it ragged.

Seeing this whole trip from a different perspective is really nice, especially when I can just look at the scenery and don't have to focus on the road!!

and after grocery shopping, I have recollected myself and now the printer is outputting (almost) clean first layers. Maybe 98% of the way there atm. Just need to get one little section tuned out and then it's back to normal

I hate 3D printing because it always seems easier than it is. People at work ask me about it all the time and they'll say "yeah I got a bambu X1C" and I just think to myself "ah that's great must be nice to be able to just make things without having a full on meltdown just trying to set down the first fucking layer"
