@tiefling @ai6yr That said, 38mph down a hill is trivial on every bike I've ever ridden (some of that may be that I come with significant mass)
A melbournian with many interests:
* Christian (very liberal)
* Embedded Rust Engineer
* Magic The Gathering judge
* Board gamer
* Keyboard enthusiast (DIY, very small, Colemak)
* Getting into 3D printing, supporting the keyboards and gaming.
* Father of 2 kids (2018 & 2020)
* NixOS user (awaiting alternatives for community reasons)
All too often I come off as argumentative, I'm working on it but definitely a work in progress.
@hollie What is the conversion from normie to Brompton process? What aspects of riding one are foreign/new.
This page about bikes on PT in Victoria is terrible: https://transport.vic.gov.au/plan-a-journey/public-transport-tools-and-resources/travel-tips-and-resources/bringing-items-on-public-transport/bicycles-and-public-transport
Near the top is a section saying "No bikes on buses, except some coaches".
But several sections later they talk about bike racks on select bus routes.
Like they added that section later, but didn't update the bit saying *NO*
@christianselig @layoutSubviews Also my disaster planning assumes I'll charge the EV somewhere else, not at home. Is that a reasonable idea?
@christianselig @layoutSubviews We only have 1 EV, but our daily electricty usage is 30kWh, 80 of storage would get us through an average 2 days, is no sun really that likely? Maybe it is where you are, and maybe expecting the grid back in 3 days is also unlikely.
But I do think that is getting into fringe territory.
@nyquildotorg The way I eat cheese, I must be immune to Alzheimers.
@bluestarultor I love how bad at logic the claim to hypocrisy is there. She's clearly stating that she is okay with people living on stolen land.
If she was claiming "everyone is illegal on stolen land" then hypocrisy could be possible.
@thenewoil some times it's really embarrassing to be Australian.
At indoor swimming lessons, a little girl (3?) waiting for her lesson, she has a tiny bucket, just large enough for her to stand in. Mummy has to keep filling it for her to step into.
Very cute.
@alcinnz we all know email has issues, but an email replacement needs to look a lot like email but with tweaks to fix the issues. Like better federation tools.
Progress as of today:
* 100km every month, I failed January, only 72km. But the heat of January is hard.
* but i have joined up my zoom 14 yards today. Size 46
@zackstern Being busy is usually the better answer to crime. It pretty much works everywhere.
@mekkaokereke I'll believe the teacher should be convicted of child abuse because of how ICA treats people rather than her belief she is a good person.
@lowqualityfacts Marry someone in a coma and get 8 bonus concubines?
@Ex_spurt And to think of how well this could be done if Labor would require good developments.....
@CaraBruar Yes, sunk costs should be ignored, but is where the project is currently really that bad that it should be cancelled today?
(partly because abandoning a project also costs money, which will help the "finish it" option)
A good article from #BikePortland with more accounts of ICE's recent unprovoked attack on the citizens of #Portland, trying to 'invoke an insurrection' and cancel the midterm election. From a #bike perspective.
@wolfinpdx I think they are things that care about the slightest of geometry eccentricities, which would make them **annoying**
