Retired and living the (tech) life here in Calderdale, West Yorkshire, UK! I run a web server, but my pride and joy is my gopher server which gets fed fresh files practically every day. It's the past, kids, but more importantly, the future! Also interest in bread making, coffee, beer, wire fox terriers, MeshCore, paganism (pantheism rules!)

>For what it’s worth - entry was to telcos and financial services with interests aligned to China
Oh, that'll be the UK as well now, since Starmer's fallen into bed with Mr Xi. 😩
Morning all! Today's offerings at the gopherhole are a mix of dystopia and sleaze. I've added a very few selected Epstein files which I'll be keeping visible with today's date for the rest of the week. Also, some papers on 5th Generation Warfare, which segways nicely(?) into Long Range Acoustic Devices (LRAD). I'm also scratching around for some info on NBIC...
TBH I'm constantly bemused by the money and effort "we" put into hurting/killing/controlling each other, especially in the name of freedom.
"Enjoy" .. at https://petergarner.net/#gopher-latest - today only, thereafter via your gopher client 😉
@jwildeboer quite amazing considering the physical size of the devices!
Quite amazing to see the number of MeshCore nodes popping up in my area (West Yorkshire). 6 months ago I'd probably get a few pings as I walked around - past few days my phone's been playing tunes, and so many repeaters! I need to get my act together and get a better repeater up and running.
Remember that time I ended up in court with Elon Musk after he bet me the cave diver was a pedo?
Anyway, here’s Elon begging Jeffrey Epstein for crazy parties on his private island, several years after Epstein was convicted of sex trafficking girls.
@GossiTheDog so how much is UN membership? I can't imagine being able to afford $1B to join the Board of Peace *and* pay my UN subs.
@GossiTheDog Perhaps they should move world headquarters to a less expensive neighborhood...Somalia, perhaps?
@jenesuispasgoth @GossiTheDog The most worrying part is "... after being contacted by the BBC, TikTok later removed the video". If you've watched enough TV you'll realise that some companies will *only* do something because national media will otherwise expose them. This needs to change!
HACK THE PLANET
THE WORLD IS GOPHERSPACE
@clickhere @aadeacon @GossiTheDog he sent his envoy/spin doctor, Tony Blair.
@idiotunderground @aadeacon @GossiTheDog
UK's Blair is of course on it. The man that turned the Labour party into a "tory" party that Thatcher and Reagan would have approved of.
That the "Gaza Peace Board" has North & Central Americas rather than Middle East as a map is telling?
@GossiTheDog count me in! I'm just just waiting for my crypto stash to reach $1B 😁
I got fed up with Android turning off my Internet radio stream (app) when the screen goes off so I bodged my own using whiptail, a list of stream URLs and mpv, running in Termux - it's bulletproof now! Yet another reason why I want a rugged genuine Linux 8 inch tablet!! And yes, I have fiddled with every power/screen setting known to mankind, plus a few more.

Even with no confirmed sources ... this is something to think about as an organisation ..
Following the revelation that Chernobyl/Chornobyl nuclear power plant lost power following Russian attacks a couple of days ago (https://www.kyivpost.com/post/68421) I've started monitoring our background radiation at home with my GMC-800 Geiger counter. I'll post here if there's anything of note in the coming weeks ☢️😬😬
The UK gov has today published the Joint Intelligence Committee report, presented at COBRA, called “Global biodiversity loss, ecosystem collapse and national security”.
Findings include “every critical ecosystem is on a pathway to collapse (confidence rating HIGH)”
The report is worth a read as it basically lays out how the next decade or two are going to play out.
Having read about young people who "use" a computer but don't understand the underlying tech, I have to say that my (Boomer) generation have recently worried me. Ì've been in IT for 45 years and willingly volunteered to do the IT for a local charity group: I installed some Linux boxes, set up a small network and haven't had problems 🙏 *But* I'm genuinely concerned about the lack of knowledge about using computers in general - basically it's "poke it with a stick and if it works then all is good". We're adding a couple of Windows 11 PCs so I'm expecting lots of PEBCAK errors: watch this space...
