@notjustbikes @TechConnectify AN HOUR AND FORTY MINUTES???? Now that's my kind of detailed analysis!

@notjustbikes @TechConnectify AN HOUR AND FORTY MINUTES???? Now that's my kind of detailed analysis!
@leavex Because they're old and dumb
@notjustbikes It's crazy they don't hate the US _more_ to be honest. When I lived in the ass end of nowhere in Ireland (all our neighbours were cows) people would hear my accent and tell me Trump had some great ideas. It never crossed their mind I might not care for him...
Edit: I mean there were people too. They owned the cows. Not calling the humans cows...
@sortius @heliographe_studio TBF Steve jobs did say you should want to lick them.
This talk at the Chaos Communication Congress in Germany is well worth a watch. @doctorow makes the most compelling case I've heard for the EU to (finally) ditch anti-circumvention laws.
@ScottE TBF I've been happy with Fastmail.
@danbrotherston @notjustbikes Oh I know, and to be fair I find the whole "Dutch complain about everything" stereotype a _little_ bit overblown, but I still remember taking my kid to school in Ireland and chatting with a Dutch dad. He said "how's it going" and I said "oh you know, I can't complain" to which he responded with a broad smile and said "There is always SOMETHING to complain about!". It was a good primer for moving here
@notjustbikes Finding a way to complain about Christmas is pretty Dutch tbf.
@MaikCiveira Not Gen Z but surely being a country that doesn't feel stuck 50 years in the past helps. A visit to Shanghai is eye opening.
@janw @notjustbikes We did! It's great.
And here's an American Ford F-350 next to the most popular car in Europe (Dacia Sandero).
There's a reason why we need to do everything we can to prevent people from driving these stupid American trucks in Europe.
@dublininquirer Seems like 9.5 million could make more than 20 studios...
@humanhorseshoes @peterbrown @europeanspodcast But Ireland has absolutely horrible bike infrastructure and is generally a terrible place to cycle. It's why my family left (to move to the Netherlands, which is much kinder to kids cycling to school)
@europeanspodcast Honestly I found this frustrating - it always seemed unfair that only people who were already working as artists (who often have wealthy spouses, parents, etc) qualify, while people who would like to be artists, but had to take other jobs to pay bills, couldn't use this program.
@GhostOnTheHalfShell @cemedia It also is an affront to privacy. Going outside with no phone and buying something with cash almost feels subversive now.
WHy is Deutsche Bahn charging me €20 more for a _shorter_ journey (but the exact same train and stops for that leg) when I'm logged in than they are in a private window?
NEW EPISODE!
We talked with researcher Tim Gill about how we need to make our cities safe for children, not cars. "Children are basically living very captive and kind of contained lives, and that's just not healthy."

We need to fight Google's new ID requirement for app developers. It isn't like showing ID at the airport. More like showing it at the printing press and only IDed authors are allowed to print books.
What Google doesn't talk about is that they build this ID system to ban developers and their apps.
