@sentientsponge I know they were made, but frequently were fought against with patches. Not sure if efforts have been made to keep them viable when jailbreaking was so easy.

@sentientsponge Sounds like you bought an R4 card for DS, not 3DS which was harder to get card compatibility with. (good thing 3DS is very easily hacked, no real need for R4)

Do this, and you both beat Discord and you make a system that’s almost impossible to enshittify or lose to corporate greed.

If you want to make a good #Discord replacement, here’s my advice:

1. Make sure text chat channels, voice chat and screen sharing are there by default. These are non-negotiable.
2. Copy as much of Discord’s UI as possible. If you’re not a designer, don’t try to be all ‘creative’, just do what the actual designers did.
3. Make sure it’s open source, so others can run it
4. Make it federated with the default sign up option being for a centralised server. Don’t make people select an instance.
